Adult Muay Thai, Kickboxing, and MMA Classes in West Des Moines

What do we teach in our Adult Muay Thai Kickboxing Classes?

Zero Dojo’s adult martial arts program is based on two elements: striking and grappling. Our striking is rooted in Muay Thai and Dutch-style Kickboxing, sometimes referred to as Muay Thai Kickboxing. Muay Thai kickboxing uses kicks, punches, knees, and elbows from close range and arms length to disable an attacker. Dutch-style Kickboxing has similar elements to Muay Thai, however in kickboxing competitions, they do not clinch or elbow.

Muay Thai and Kickboxing

Our Zero Dojo Muay Thai and Kickboxing classes are designed for ages 15 and up and are structured to teach the fundamentals of striking in a clear, progressive way. Students learn proper technique for punches, kicks, knees, and elbows through guided bag work, partner drills, and coach-led pad work.

Each class emphasizes correct form, balance, and timing before adding intensity. We finish sessions with strength and conditioning tailored to build both sport-specific power and functional athleticism.

Whether you are brand new to Muay Thai or looking to build a strong technical foundation, this class provides structured instruction in a focused, supportive environment.

Advanced Muay Thai and Kickboxing

Our Advanced Muay Thai class is designed for experienced practitioners who are ready to refine high-level technique and train at a higher pace and intensity. This class builds upon foundational skills and emphasizes timing, distance management, combination development, and strategic application.*

Training includes advanced partner drills, controlled live rounds, and technical pad work that challenge both conditioning and ring awareness. Athletes are expected to demonstrate strong fundamentals and the ability to train safely with partners in dynamic settings.

This class is ideal for students preparing for competition or those looking to sharpen their skills in a focused, disciplined environment.

*Because this class builds on existing knowledge, it is for Yellow shirt rank and above. New students must attend a Muay Thai and Kickboxing class before being invited to the Advanced class.

Jiu-Jitsu

Centered on grappling and ground fighting, Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art where practitioners employ chokes, locks, and holds to control or submit their opponent. Recently growing in popularity for self-defense, Jiu-Jitsu was designed to give smaller people an edge utilizing technique and leverage over strength to subdue and escape stronger opponents. Our curriculum is based on traditional techniques with a modern approach to training.
